100 Days Challenge!

Today I began a 100 Days Challenge! I was inspired to commit to run every day for 100 days. I have two rules for myself. The run has to be outside and it has to be a mile or more. That is the main challenge but I have set other goals to do in this 100 days too... Every week I am going to do a very challenging workout

based off of Sealfit's weekly Mash-ups. I will be wearing my weight vest for as many workouts as I can. I am going to try more new foods. And I am going to write ... every ... day. Honestly, I am really just trying to break some comfortable patterns and habits and branch out, creating discipline and being courageous!

So, today I ran a mile for my warm-up before doing the Brute Force 12 Days of Christmas workout.

******* The Brute Force 12 Days of Christmas is an annual workout where people get together to do a workout and to raise money for 2 charities.

5-5-5 Fitness, whose goal is to help reduce line of duty deaths (LODD’s) in the fire service by promoting a healthier lifestyle and by providing fitness equipment grants and free firefighter workouts daily.

And the Police Unity Tour, whose mission is to raise awareness of Law Enforcement Officers who have died in the line of duty. The secondary purpose is to raise funds for the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial and Museum.

Here is the Brute Force 12 Days of Christmas Workout....

1 Sandbag Thruster,

2 Sandbag High Pulls,

3 Sandbag Push Ups

4 Lateral Hops over the sandbag

5 Sandbag Burpees,

6 Sandbag Lunges,

7 Sandbag Swings,

8 Sandbag Bear Hug Squats,

9 Sandbag Ground-to-shoulders,

10 Sandbag Back Squats,

11 Sandbag Shoulder To Shoulders,

12 Sandbag Get Ups,

The movements are performed just like the song...The 12 Days of Christmas.

Round 1 = 1 rep of movement 1

Round 2 = 2 reps of movement 2 + 1 rep of movement 1

Round 3 = 3 reps of movement 3 + 2 reps of movement 2 + 1 rep of movement 1

And so on and so forth all the way through the 12th Round/12th Day of Christmas.

I went lighter on the sandbag because of the high pulls and so decided to also wear a 15# lbs weight vest. I finished the workout in 27:20.

Josie also did a version with a 15# slam ball. She did the Days of Christmas order until round 7 and then just went up to 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12. She finished in 9:15!

I am excited to see where this challenge takes me, how it helps me grow and .....who might decide to do their own challenge with me!
